Build & Tools Engineer

Build & Tools Engineer

Who we are looking for:

Laguna Games is looking to hire a build & tools engineer to join our growing engineering organization! This position will report to our Director of Technology in San Francisco and be a critical part of our global team. Your initial mission at Laguna Games will be the end to end management of our build pipeline.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

  • Support builds and tools against multiple platforms and environments.

  • Manage and document build machine environments.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and communicate issues to the development team.


  • 4+ years game industry or related programming experience, ideally supporting a Game as a Service.

  • Experience defining, implementing or improving continuous integration and deployment workflow processes.

  • Knowledge working with a major CI tool, such as; GoCD, Jenkins, TeamCity.

  • Development experience with a major client game engine, such as; Unity, Unreal.

  • Experience working with an internal deployment tool, such as; HockeyApp, Testflight, Crashlytics Beta.

  • Programming experience with one of the following languages: C#, Ruby, Obj-C, Java.

  • Knowledge working with a major release platform, such as; iOS, Google Play, Steam, MS.

  • Experience with Git, branching, and merge strategies.

  • Must be self-driven and a team player with a solid work ethic.

Bonus Attributes:

  • Experience working in the mobile gaming as a service industry.

  • Experience wrangling data in Python.

  • Working knowledge of mobile game systems design.

  • Desire to build out and lead a team over time.

  • Experience building out custom data pipelines.

Gameplay Designer

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Gameplay Designer to join our team working on Crypto Unicorns. As a Gameplay Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the experiences our players enjoy daily and contribute to the success of our blockchain gaming ecosystem.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and iterate on game systems with our Design and Product teams, balancing player experience, progression, and monetization to improve the overall game.

  • Create detailed design documentation, including game mechanics, rules, and player interactions, ensuring a clear and cohesive vision for the development team.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including artists, engineers, and producers to ensure your features are created as designed.

  • Own gameplay systems from inception to completion, including fine-tuning and iterating on the live features.

  • Gather feedback from a variety of sources and distill the feedback into concrete deliverables.

  • Contribute to design discussions for all areas of design across the entire game.

  • Provide feedback across all areas of the game based on daily playtesting.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating innovative concepts into your designs.


  • Proven experience as a Gameplay Designer in the gaming industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful game projects.

  • Understanding of blockchain technology and its integration into gaming mechanics.

  • Proficiency in game design tools, such as Unity or Unreal Engine.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance game systems effectively.

  • Passion for crypto and gaming, with an interest in pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the intersection of these two fields.

  • Match3 gameplay design experience.

  • RPG and strategy gameplay design experience.

  • UI/UX implementation experience.

Senior UI Technical Artist

Senior UI Technical Artist

Who we are looking for:

Laguna Games is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Artist to join our growing global organization. This position is best fit for an extremely detail oriented individual who has worked in Unity and has proven experience working in the fast based world of mobile gaming as a service. Your mission will be the timely integration of UI and art assets into our client builds effectively bridging our art and engineering teams.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and maintain tools and pipelines for efficient UI asset creation and integration.

  • Identify and communicate technical limitations and potential solutions for UI assets and systems.

  • Work collaboratively with other team members, including product managers, engineers and designers, to ensure consistency and quality across the game.

  • Implement UI elements in Unity, guide, mentor, and train the rest of the teams on best practices for Unity UI and art asset implementation.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and firefight technical issues.

  • Write scripts and tools to aid Art & UI/UX teams.


  • 4+ years in the gaming industry with at least 2 years experience as a Technical Artist on a shipped mobile title.

  • Strong experience working with the Unity game engine, UI system, and scripting.

  • Experience in Tools programming/scripting.

  • Proficiency in Photoshop.

Bonus Attributes:

  • Experience with UI/UX design.

  • Proven track record at top tier mobile gaming studio.
